Blockchain of Title: New Technology in a Century-Old Industry

5/3/2018 2:00:00 PM
Registration is full for this webinar. We are airing a repeat of this CE/CLE event on June 7. Check back soon to register for the June 7 program.

The term “blockchain” is taking the title insurance industry by storm, as the emerging technology is being hailed as the next big thing in our century-old real estate transfer system. Blockchain holds the promise of making real estate transactions more secure and less costly, but do you understand how this disruptive technology works? This 75-minute continuing education webinar will define blockchain and place it in a real-world context, offering a glimpse into how it may transform our business, streamline the title transfer process and potentially even impact our industry’s value proposition. Speakers Benjamin M. Adams, principal and founder of Esquire Land Services LLC, and NATIC’s own Gilbert “Leigh” Curry, vice president and regional underwriting counsel in the Midwest, will discuss the basics of blockchain and share some examples of how it is already being tested in title-related scenarios.

This complimentary webinar will be offered for continuing education (CE) and continuing legal education (CLE) credit. CE applications (1 hour) have been approved for Alabama, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. Applications have also been submitted to Maryland, New Jersey and Tennessee. CLE applications (1 hour) have been approved for Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Washington. CLE applications have also been submitted to Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina and Wisconsin.
