What is a 1031 Exchange? The term is often used in the title insurance industry, but many title agents may find the concept confusing or unclear. This live webinar will explain 1031 Exchanges and their requirements, including who can exchange, how to structure an exchange under existing regulations, problem areas and common misconceptions. The hour-long webinar also will review current events that are impacting 1031 Exchanges, such as political trends and potential federal legislative developments.

David Gorenberg is Executive Vice President and Counsel for Riverside 1031, a Lakewood, New Jersey-based personal 1031 facilitator, qualified intermediary and certified exchange specialist (CSE). David has served as a public speaker, education provider, industry consultant, advisor and expert witness on a host of matters related to 1031 Exchanges for more than 20 years. He has presented seminars like this one to the Real Estate Investment Securities Association, the Federation of Exchange Accommodators (FEA) and the National Association of Realtors. Prior to joining Riverside 1031, David served as the National Director of 1031 Exchange Services for Citibank NA, where he built Citibank’s 1031 Exchange service from the ground up, ultimately generating more than $850 million in annual deposits for the bank. He is Past President of the FEA, the only national trade association for 1031 Exchange professionals, and served as co-chair of the association’s ethics committee. David received his bachelor’s degree from Rider University and his law degree from Widener University, where he was a cum laude graduate.

Amy Tankersley, NATIC’s Manager of Education and Research, serves as editor of NATIC publications, including LookingNorth, Claims Connection and NewsLink, and produces webinars and other instructional tools to further NATIC’s educational outreach to its agents in the title insurance and settlement services marketplace. Amy launched her career as a reporter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Ohio’s largest newspaper, at the age of 15. After graduating from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication, she served as the editor of several trade publications, including The Legal Description, The Title Report and Drug Discovery News. Much of her work has focused on legal, legislative, regulatory and compliance matters. Most recently, she worked as a freelance journalist and multimedia service provider, primarily for the real estate, mortgage, title insurance, settlement services and financial services industries.
